It is a small story set in small town, pivoting on a small act of grace…but that is how big wrongs are addressed, with small things like these’ – Sight and Sound Taking place at Christmas in 1985, devoted father and coal merchant Bill Furlong grapples with his town’s complicity in the mistreatment of local women housed in a Magdalene Laundry and discovers shocking truths of his own. Adapted from the Booker Prize nominated novel by Claire Keegan, the film stars Cillian Murphy, Eileen Walsh and Emily Watson.
