8th October 2020
We had a fabulous day welcoming participants to our Plein Air/Outdoors Painting Day at Limepark Arts & Cottages in Armoy on Saturday 26 September 2020.
Maintaining good health and safety, participant numbers were restricted and the beautiful surroundings of Limepark allowed everyone to spread out and get creative, sketching or painting the stunning environment around them. Thankfully the sun shone, too, so it felt like a summer's day, despite it being the end of September.
This was out first workshop in our ARTbeat initiative, promoting arts and wellness through the co-ordination of creative activities inspired by and taking place in some of our beautiful natural environments. We feel that the importance of the therapeutic value of creativity has never been more needed right now, and taking individual concerns over covid infection into mind also, we have developed ART beat as a way of expanding out venue-based community arts programme.
Our sincere thanks to artist Maurice Orr who guides participants with his expertise and hosts John and Melanie Ward at Limepark.
Forthcoming ARTbeat initiatives include Tree and Tide Mindfulness Workshop at Whiterocks Beach and Portrush Walk & Sketch Sessions with more to follow.

This project received financial support through Council’s Good Relations Programme. The purpose of the event / activity is to bring people together, using creative arts as a method of connecting people from different community and cultural backgrounds using shared spaces (whether online or in a specific location) so that we can build positive relations using the medium of the creative arts.
