Halloween Open Day at Flowerfield Arts Centre – A Fang-tastic Day of Fun!
This Halloween, Flowerfield Arts Centre was hauntingly festive, buzzing with laughter and creative spirits! With over 750 visitors, including some very impressive costumes and a special visit from Mayor Ciaran McQuillan, it was a day filled with magic, mystery, and a heartwarming sense of community.
In collaboration with Cinemagic Young Audiences Supporting the Goodbank and the Causeway Foodbank, we screened the stunning animated film Wolfwalkers. This Celtic adventure brought the ancient folklore of shapeshifters to life, while also supporting our local foodbank—a perfect blend of art and goodwill.
Throughout the day, the centre was alive with sounds of little ones crafting Samhain-inspired trick-or-treat bags and dazzling Diwali lanterns under the guidance of our fabulous Linda and Christina. The creativity and excitement in the air was palpable, with each craft more colorful and spooky than the last!
Inside our Gallery, Vicki’s Taletime story dome stole the show with her immersive tales of Baba Yaga and Star Wolf. Kids and parents alike climbed into the darkened dome, where animated projections danced across the roof as Vicki enchanted them with stories filled with sounds, actions, and a healthy dose of chills!
Meanwhile, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company turned our auditorium into a spook-tacular dance floor! Young ones grooved to Halloween tunes, learning fun, ghostly moves, and leaving with smiles as big as their costumes. We also had a Design-a-Monster competition and a scavenger hunt that saw little adventurers racing to find our spooky word of the day!
Adding to the atmosphere, some mysterious characters roamed the halls, from Morrigan, a mischievous banshee fixated on hair to a very dazed Dr. Acula struggling with the sunlight. Thanks to the incredible performers from Play Make Believe, families waiting for activities were entertained with these unexpected “guests.”
And let’s not forget our team who went all out in costumes—giant pumpkins, alien astronauts, Wednesday Addams, and Harry Potter himself! Their welcoming energy made everyone feel at home, and it was a joy to see new faces enjoying Flowerfield’s family-friendly festivities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fantastic day! If you captured any spooky snaps, don’t forget to share them with us—can’t wait to see the costumes that made this day so memorable!
The activities that are part of our Halloween Haunted House Open Days at both centres are made possible with financial support from The Executive Office through Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme.
