Cloud Flocks & Herds

Helen Merrigan Colfer | Currated by Noelle McAlinden

10 September - 24 October

Based at the Hook Head Peninsula in County Wexford, Colfer’s practice explores the relationship between humanity and nature through layered, thought-provoking narratives. Having first exhibited with us in 2020, the award-winning, internationally acclaimed artist presents a new body of work, curated by Noelle McAlinden.

Through a series of intricate and stunningly detailed ceramic sculptures, Colfer explores an absence of a sense of self and how this affects our personal narrative.

Where some feel comfortable in their skin, others drift in liminality — existing on the periphery, never quite fitting in. For the artist this is comparable to being cloudlike; feeling pulled, pushed & torn by external forces. As clouds flock together, we seek the sanctuary of kindred spirits, drawn towards others as we navigate our own identities. In this journey, we learn to celebrate what makes us uniquely different.

Launch including an In Conversation with Helen Merrigan Colfer and Noelle McAlinden | Thursday 10 September | 7-9pm
