This event is cabaret style & BYOB.

Join North Coast Book Club and Coleraine-born writer Andrew Cunning for an evening of conversation, storytelling and insights into his novel Clara and Christina.

Now living and writing in Belfast, Andrew was a winner of the Irish Novel Fair before publishing his debut novel with John Murray in 2026. Alongside his writing, he teaches English in an all-ability boys’ school. Whether you’ve already picked up a copy or are curious to hear Andrew speak before diving in, all are welcome to this relaxed and inspiring conversation in our Auditorium where copies of Clara and Christina will be available to purchase from Waterstones.

His debut novel, Clara and Christina, is set in Belfast and follows an unexpected friendship between two women who live their lives in books. Clara is a young writer working on her first book, while Christina is a celebrated novelist in her seventies, secretly working on her fifth and final novel. What begins as an interview develops into a friendship shaped by books, writing, experience and the lessons passed between generations.

Warm, thoughtful and full of human insight, Clara and Christina marks the arrival of a distinctive new voice in Northern Irish fiction. 'Required reading' John Boyne, Irish Times

'A writer we've been waiting for' Books Ireland Magazine
