Participants from The Base in Ballycastle have been getting creative with wool through a series of hands-on needle-felting workshops led by textile artist Carolyn Faith.
Hosted by YARN in Ballycastle, the three workshops brought participants together to explore the colourful and versatile craft of needle felting in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Across the sessions, participants created a collection of handmade pieces, including birds, toadstools and lastly seasonal pumpkins.
With Carolyn guiding the group through different techniques, each workshop provided an opportunity to learn something new, develop creative skills and build confidence with the craft. Participants were encouraged to put their own individual stamp on their work, resulting in a wonderfully varied collection of creations.
The sessions also provided a chance for the group to come together, enjoy the process of making and build on their skills from one workshop to the next. From carefully crafted birds and colourful toadstools to a wonderfully whacky collection of pumpkins, each piece reflected the creativity and personality of its maker.
The workshops form part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Community Arts programme, which works with local groups and creative practitioners to provide accessible arts experiences within communities across the Borough.
Through bringing artists and communities together, the programme creates opportunities for people to try something new, develop creative skills and enjoy meaningful shared experiences close to home.
