Autumn Adventures at Flowerfield: Music, Workshops, and Family Fun Await

We are delighted to launch the September – December 2025 Arts Guide, packed with unmissable live events, film, inspiring creative workshops, family fun and community activities.

LIVE EVENTS

Kicking off the new season, Emer Maguire brings her brand new comedy tour to the North Coast on Thursday 26 September. With her trademark mix of sharp wit, hilarious musical interludes and brilliant storytelling, Emer is one of Ireland’s hottest comedy talents, regularly selling out major venues across Belfast and beyond.

On Friday 18 October, audiences are in for a very special night with acclaimed American singer-songwriter Chris Smither. Hailed by the Associated Press as “an American original – one of the absolute best singer-songwriters in the world”, Smither’s latest album All About the Bones blends brand new material with carefully chosen covers for a soulful, atmospheric evening not to be missed.

Other autumn highlights include a night with Willie Drennan and Friends, when history meets folklore with live music connecting the mysteries. This event has been financially supported through through The Executive Office through the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council's Good Relations Programme, and a festive season like no other with a spectacular Christmas concert from Duke Special on Friday 12 December and the return of Festive Tea Dance with The Soda Popz, guaranteed to get everyone into the seasonal spirit.

As part of Atlantic Sessions, Flowerfield will host the internationally acclaimed David Lyttle Quartet featuring Terell Stafford (USA) with special guests, plus a laid-back Sunday Brunch with Ralph McLean, accompanied by delicious food from Bazaar Street Food.

EXHIBITIONS

The galleries will showcase the work of much-loved local artist Harry McMahon with On Growing Old (13 September – 25 October). Spanning several decades of his career, this exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the creative journey of an artist over time, with all sales generously donated to Marie Curie in memory of his late wife Anne.

Flowerfield’s Christmas Craft Market opens on Monday 15 December, showcasing the very best contemporary makers and designers on the Causeway Coast – the perfect opportunity to pick up unique gifts and seasonal treats.

FILM

Film fans are in for a treat this autumn at Flowerfield. The season opens with a special screening of Stolen on Thursday 9 October, featuring an introduction and post-film Q&A with director Margo Harkin. This powerful and acclaimed documentary gives voice to survivors of Ireland’s mother and baby home institutions, offering a moving and unflinching look at their experiences and the systems that silenced them for so long.

Later in the month, the big screen takes a spookier turn with family favourite Hotel Transylvania on Sunday 27 October, followed by cult horror classic The Fog on Wednesday 30 October. And of course, Flowerfield’s hugely popular Haunted House event returns on Halloween night (31 October), promising two hours of creative, spooky fun for children and families.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

Alongside all the live music, comedy and exhibitions, Flowerfield is brimming with opportunities to get hands-on and try something new this season. Kids can dive into the fun with pottery, fused glass and animation, while grown-ups can indulge their creative side in a huge choice of workshops.

Get messy at the wheel with ceramicist Fiona Shannon, discover the sparkling world of fused glass with Natasha Duddy, or learn the art of Tiffany-style glass with EJ McCartney. If painting’s more your thing, Sarah Carrington and Elaine Harkness will guide you through techniques to unlock your inner artist, while Helen Walshaw brings a fresh take on textiles. For those who love a bit of texture, Carolyn Faith’s needle-felting sessions are a must-try.

And new for this term, Catherine Frew introduces the magical art of glass bead making — using a gas torch and molten glass to craft one-of-a-kind beads that glisten with colour. Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time, experimenting with textiles, or refining your skills in clay or glass, there’s something to spark every imagination at Flowerfield.
