Since launching in September 2023, Mums Meet & Make has become a much-loved part of the programme at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre — creating space for new mums to meet, make, chat and, most importantly, take a little time for themselves.
We know those early months of motherhood can be wonderful, but they can also feel busy, overwhelming and, at times, isolating. Mums Meet & Make was created as a welcoming space where new parents can connect with others, rediscover their creativity and try something new, with their little one right there beside them.
Over the years, we’ve explored all kinds of creative activities, including pottery, painting, creative writing, sewing, crafting and mindfulness, with plenty more ideas along the way. Each workshop is designed for everyone — whether you’re an experienced maker or haven’t picked up a paintbrush since school. Friendly tutors offer encouragement and guidance, while the relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to come along on your own and meet other local mums.
And the making doesn’t stop when the workshop ends! Each session includes the opportunity to stay for refreshments and a chat — because sometimes the best part is simply sitting down with a coffee and knowing you’re not the only one figuring it all out.
