New Autumn Winter Programme for Flowerfield
The Causeway Coast and Glens Deputy Mayor Cllr McKilop and our Springhall Artist in Residence helped launch our new Autumn Winter programme last week.
Flowerfield Arts Centre have a great Autumn/Winter line up for the North Coast area featuring some great music, arts, events and comedy, taking us through September to December.
Eleanor McEvoy, the supremely talented singer/songwriter, famous for A Woman’s Heart and many other beautiful songs which have graced TV and Film, will be at Flowerfield on Saturday 28th September. This is sure to be a great evening with a bit of banter thrown in for good measure.
The art exhibitions in Flowerfield are always eclectic, featuring local and international artists in their programme, and this season is no exception. The Friday Art Club host their first group show on Saturday 7th September, followed by the established Coleraine Arts Society Annual Exhibition, opening on Thursday 3rd October. Upstairs in the Peoples Gallery, Fresh Young Artists show the work created through an Arts Council of NI funded project with artist Sydella Gallick, which highlights some great talents of the future.
Our Artist in Residence Corrina Askin will be holding a series of talks, Open Studio days and workshops, leading up to her exhibition in January. These are well worth checking out on our website and are suitable for schools and colleges as well as local residents.
Cine Animate brings us Ghost in the Shell on Saturday 5TH October and Your Name on Saturday 23rd November, appealing to younger family members and followed by animation workshops.
We welcome back TEN X 9, the amazing concept in which 9 people stand up and talk for 10 minutes about a true life event! This time round the theme is FEAR and this is sure to be wonderfully entertaining evening. Thursday 16th October.
Owen O’Neill brings his master storytelling comedy show to Flowerfield on Friday 18th October and the great, revered poet Frank Ormsby reads from his collection of new work, The Rain Barrel on Friday 25TH October.
Then at Frightening Flowerfield from 26 to 30 October we have a brilliant line up of Halloween fun featuring Mr Bones and the Hungry Ghost workshop with Corrina Askin on 29 October, Halloween Cultures with Paul Brady and his horrible histories type shin dig all about this hauntingly ghostly time of the year, on Tuesday 29 October, and then the big finale on Wednesday 30th October with our Family Fun Day and Fancy Dress Parade.
At Christmas we are delighted to welcome back the best makers and artists from the area and further afield, for the Flowerfield Christmas Craft Market launching on 23rd November and running until 23rd December
Andy Irvine is our musical treat on Saturday 7th December with his iconic take on Traditional Irish folk, which is sure to have the roof and the floorboards shaking.
For younger members of the family we have Banyans Theatre Elves and the Shoemaker on Saturday 7th December and Ann McMaster becomes The Christmas Storyteller on Saturday 14th December.
