18th April 2018
We are delighted to support Processions 2018.
PROCESSIONS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in a mass participation artwork to celebrate one hundred years of votes for women.
In 1918, the Representation of the People Act in the UK gave the first women the right to vote and stand for public office. One hundred years on, we are inviting women* and girls across the UK to come and mark this historic moment as part of a living portrait of women in the 21st century. *those who identify as women or non-binary
On Sunday 10 of June, women and girls in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London will walk together as part of this celebratory mass participation artwork. Wearing either green, white or violet, the colours of the suffrage movement, the PROCESSIONS will appear as a flowing river of colour through the city streets.
We are offering meeting/workshop space for any individual or any groups (artists/makers/community/womens groups) from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area wishing to make banners or just get together to meet and discuss the project or plan attendance on the day for PROCESSIONS 2018 - Northern Ireland
So if you are a female from the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area, please register at www.processions.co.uk, download your banner-making toolkit and get your female friends together at Flowerfield Arts Centre or The Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre to make beautiful banners.
