On Saturday, 15th March, we were delighted to launch Thin Place, a captivating exhibition by artist Bob Speers at Flowerfield Arts Centre. Inspired by the ethereal quality of peatlands, where the physical and transcendental seem to merge, Bob’s work explores the mystical connection between the material and the unseen.

Using materials sourced from bogs across Ireland, alongside commercial paints and discarded household fabrics, his abstract landscapes evoke both ancient traditions and contemporary perspectives. Guests at the launch had the unique opportunity to hear directly from Bob as he shared insights into his creative process and artistic inspirations. A special highlight of the evening was his live musical performance, inspired by his explorations of Ireland’s boglands.

This thought-provoking exhibition runs until 26th April—be sure to visit and experience these evocative works for yourself!
