Formed in 1987, Big Telly is the longest established professional theatre company in Northern Ireland and we are delighted that their home is now at Flowerfield Arts Centre. Find out more about what they do by visiting their website.
Big Telly relocated here from Portstewart Town Hall in 2015 and bring tremendous creative energy not only to our arts centre but also to cultural development on the North Coast. We work with Big Telly on various initiatives including the Creative Shops Project and hope to increase our partnership work over the next few years.
Meantime, the company continue to push boundaries, still producing and touring critically acclaimed plays, but also working with more people, artists and places than ever before, across many more artforms and in a huge variety of ways.
They use the arts to envision new futures through activities such as activating a public space, animating a community or sparking redevelopment and regeneration.

Current work 2019
Seagods, Shipwrecks and Sidhe Folk
Big Telly is delighted to be working with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and the Ulster University on a heritage project. ‘Seagods, Shipwrecks and Sidhe Folk’ focuses on eight unique sites across the Causeway Coast. An extraordinary audio adventure will be created for each site, inspired by its stories, myths and archaeological uniqueness.
Launching this Autumn, the experience will be available via an app and other platforms. Prepare to be immersed in compelling tales of forts and curses and witches and druids and humans who change into seals and swans, composed with beautiful language and original music.
Written by Moyra Donaldson, Jane Talbot, Claire Savage and Dominic Montague. Sound Design/Composition Garth MacConaghie. Director Zoe Seaton. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Bear Hospitals
Two very special Bear Hospitals return to Flowerfield Arts Centre in July and Roe Valley in August. Once again, the zany doctors and nutty nurses will be in a permanent state of emergency for all poorly bears in Bear Hospital. Big Telly’s best loved, harming, hilarious durational theatre pieces for bear fans of all ages!
