Fun and Creativity at Flowerfield Arts Centre, All Summer!

We are delighted to launch our Summer Arts Guide with a packed programme of creative workshops and community activities, live music and film!

Flowerfield’s Summer programme kicks off as Kids take over for a brilliant and HUGE Summer Art Project – My Cardboard Coast Town. Working with Linda Mulholland and Anann’s Arch, young imagineers and architects will design and build a whole seaside town entirely from cardboard. Not only will they plan, build, paint and craft, but they’ll also take over as curators for the opening of this incredible cardboard creation on 20th July. Browse My Cardboard Coast Town Workshops

We are also delighted to partner with Cinemagic and host a 2-day Young Consultants event where children 8-11 will view and review a number of short films. This is the first event of its kind outside of Belfast and their reviews will help shape the 2024 Cinemagic Festival Programme for October.

Alongside this there will workshops in pottery with Fiona Shannon for kids and teens, fused glass with Natasha Duddy, Art in the Park, Lego animation, Claymation, and comic book workshops with Kev F Sutherland who has written and drawn for Beano, Doctor Who and Marvel comics.

During August Craft Month we will also have an exhibition by the talented professional artists who feature on the Causeway Craft Trail from pottery and glass, to traditional boat making, these makers are experts in their field. Some of these incredible makers will also be demonstrating and hosting workshops at Flowerfield throughout the month!

Flowerfield’s summer film programme will include indoor family screenings of Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells plus an alfresco flick - an evening screening of Greasein Flowerfield Park on 16th August.

Saturday Lunchtimes Live in the Park are is back– definitely not to be missed, with live music from North Coast Trad, Northern Ireland Opera, Martha Greer and more. Why not pack a picnic, some camp chairs or a blanket and join us every Saturday from 20th July – 17th August from 12noon – 1pm.
