Learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel to create a variety of different pots, mugs and bowls. You’ll also learn turning techniques and how to add handles and feet. In the last week you will add colour to your pots using a variety of underglazes. Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience, join ceramicist Fiona Shannon for this 5-week course where you will master hand-building techniques like slab building, coiling, pinch pots and press moulds to craft diverse pots like vases and bowls. During the final session, you’ll bring your creations to life with vibrant slips. Items will be fired and clear-glazed by the tutor to be collected at a later date.

Please bring apron and wear clothes that you won’t mind getting a little messy. It is advisable to cut your nails short for this class.

Time to hone those back to basics drawing skills? This two-part workshop focuses on the fundamentals of drawing, line, form and shadow. Alongside Elaine Harkness, you will explore different techniques to enable you to develop your own unique way of drawing. Each participant will be given an artist sketchbook which you can use to develop your skills in your own time. Pencil and pens will be available but if you have your own please bring these with you.

Join local professional artist Sarah Carrington at Flowerfield for a series of beginners painting workshops over 4 weeks, exploring land and seascape through observational painting techniques. Following painting demonstrations by Sarah, you will create images of the Causeway Coast area using acrylics and mark-making.

Please bring your own landscape images to work from, and an apron or wear clothing that you do not mind getting paint on.

This course is suitable for beginners and those with some painting experience.

T’ai Chi and Qigong focus on meditation, creating harmony and bringing balance to our daily lives. As part of our Artbeat creative arts and well-being initiative, get creatively inspired by our stunning coastline. Suitable for painters with some experience, this course begins with an inspirational site visit to beautiful Castlerock Beach to gather photos and sketches, followed by three indoors painting workshops to create finished artworks, all led by professional artist Sarah Carrington.


DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK CRAFT WORKSHOP

During Dementia Action Week we are delighted to host this workshop for those living with dementia and a family member or friend.

Led by qualified art therapist Christina Smyth, you will paint/decorate small rocks that carry positivity and comfort. These ‘pocket rocks’ can be colourful, symbolic and feature positive words/messages, to be kept close by and read or rubbed to bring comfort as well as being a lovely display in your home. This workshop offers the opportunity to relax, have fun and create meaningful moments in a nurturing and safe creative environment.

Natasha Duddy will teach glass cutting and glass grinding skills to help you create a mosaic-style plate using a combination of colours and patterns. Once fused, Natasha will transfer into moulds and re-fire to slump into plates for you to take home. No previous experience required. Embrace the summer by joining Heather Byrne at two of our most beautiful coastal locations to get inspired in creating wonderful creative sketchbooks. In Week One, you’ll visit Whiterocks Beach as a group, in Week Two, Castlerock Beach and in Week Three, the group will reconvene at Flowerfield. Using various mixed mediums, you will try different drawing techniques and exercises to encourage a looser style of drawing, capturing a feeling of ‘being’ in the landscape rather than a purely representational drawing. You’ll gain confidence and discover preferred processes and materials to enable you to work outdoors.

Join Eleanor-Jane for a fun-filled half-day taster session to discover the art of Stained Glass Tiffany Style. You will learn how to design and structure your piece; cut glass, use a diamond grinder, apply and burnish copper foil, assemble and solder your pieces together including making and adding hooks (if you want to hang your finished project). E-J will guide you through the process and you will create a unique panel of glass art which you will take away on the day. This class is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experiences are also very welcome. All the tools and equipment, including gloves, aprons and safety goggles are provided. Join artist Elaine Harkness for this vibrant, fun composition and still life workshop

Using oil paint to create a riot of colour, each participant will bring home an uplifting piece of your own art. Don’t worry if you have only had limited experience or are a complete beginner. All activities will have a relaxed and informal approach.

MUMS MEET AND MAKE: SUMMER SOLSTICE YOGA FOR MUMS

Embrace the Summer Solstice with Natasha (North Coast Yoga) in a joyful session blending relaxation, gentle movements, and connection alongside your little ones. This yoga session is suitable for mums who are at least 3 months postpartum and will be a gentle and mediative practice.


GLASS MAKING: ​MAKE A FUSED GLASS BIRD - SOLD OUT

Glass artist Natasha Duddy helps you create two beautiful, fused glass birds on wire for flowerpot stakes; or on hooks to hang from your windows and enjoy the mesmerising colours. You will draw and cut two bird templates and decorate with colour combinations, using small cut glass, frits and stringers. During the fusing process wire will be attached to allow the birds to free stand or hang. An inspiring introduction to the fabulous world of glassmaking.
