Join award-winning Northern Irish poet Moyra Donaldson for a creative masterclass exploring poetry, identity and language. Just as fiction has a narrator, poetry has a speaker — the voice that tells the poem’s story. Sometimes this voice is the poet’s own, while other times it takes on a persona, adopting the identity of another person, an animal or even an inanimate object.
Through examples, discussion and practical exercises, you will discover how stepping into another voice can open new perspectives, explore challenging ideas and inspire your own writing. The workshop includes time to create a new poem and receive supportive feedback.
Moyra Donaldson is an award-winning poet, editor and mentor renowned for her powerful use of language and her commitment to nurturing creativity. She has worked with leading literary organisations including the Irish Writers’ Centre, Arts Council NI and Words Ireland, while championing marginalised voices through her advocacy and support of community arts.
