BRUMOUS

Aidan Crotty

12 January – 16 February

A selection of new work by the award-winning Sligo-based artist, Aidan's painting practice focuses primarily on observed accounts of overlooked spaces and the broader environment around him where he lives. He consistently encircles the subject of decomposition within the landscape. In his attempts to depict the impermanent, he often references dormant or inanimate objects encountered in the landscape.

Primarily a painter, Aidan has been continually developing his practice since 2005. Recent work involves conveying the physical presence of the every day through painting. Aidan lives and works in Sligo, where he recently completed a 6-month residency at The Model Studios, funded by Sligo Arts Service. He received the ESB Keating Award and Silver Medal at the RHA, in 2022 and the Zurich Portrait Prize 2020 at the National Gallery of Ireland.

Aidan is hosting a workshop in Painting from Life on Thursday 18 January from 1-4pm. FIND OUT MORE
